About the Burmese American Resource Network (BARN)
The Burmese American Resource Network (BARN) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization based in Frederick, Maryland, dedicated to empowering, uplifting, and supporting the Burmese American communitythrough culturally responsive programs, advocacy, and essential services. Founded by Sean Tin, BARN was built on the belief that every individual and family deserves access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to build a full and flourishing life in the United States.
A Historic Milestone for Our Community
One of BARN's proudest achievements and a defining first step in our mission came when the City of Frederick, Maryland officially designated April 10, 2026 as Burmese American Day , a landmark recognition led by BARN Founder and Director Sean Tin in partnership with Mayor Michael O'Connor. This historic designation is more than a celebration. It is a foundation a birth of recognition and visibility for the Burmese American community that will be honored and carried forward by many generations to come. This is only the beginning, and BARN is committed to doing even more to ensure that the Burmese American community in Maryland continues to be seen, heard, and celebrated in the city we call home.
Who We Are
BARN serves as a bridge between Burmese immigrants, refugees, and families in the Frederick, Maryland area and the resources, services, and opportunities available to them. We walk alongside newcomers and long-time community members at every step from navigating language barriers and employment challenges to accessing healthcare, legal support, and education while creating spaces where Burmese culture, traditions, and shared experiences continue to thrive.
As a nonprofit community foundation in Frederick, MD, all contributions made to BARN are tax-deductible, and our programs are designed to serve the community, not generate profit. Every dollar we receive goes directly toward strengthening the lives of Burmese Americans in Maryland.

🏥 Healthcare Navigation Helping Burmese families in Maryland understand and access health benefits, find quality care, and connect with healthcare providers who understand their needs.
💼 Career Development Programs Providing mentorship, professional training, and career development pathways to help Burmese Americans grow in the workforce and achieve long-term financial stability.
🗣️ Burmese Language Interpretation Services Offering certified, confidential Burmese interpretation services in Maryland across 15+ languages spoken in Myanmar including Burmese, Karen, Kachin, Chin, Shan, Mon, and more for individuals, hospitals, law firms, schools, and government agencies.
📚 English Language & Career Education Programs Offering English classes in Frederick, MD for business and communication, alongside paralegal workshops, I.T. training, life empowerment courses, and pathways toward careers in law enforcement equipping participants with the skills and confidence to advance their futures.
🎎 Cultural Events & Community Programs Celebrating and preserving Burmese heritage in Maryland through cultural events, community gatherings, and initiatives that foster unity, belonging, and cultural pride.

Board Members
The Board Members of the Burmese American Resource Network provide guidance, oversight, and strategic direction for the organization. They are responsible for supporting the mission, ensuring accountability, and making key decisions that help strengthen programs and services. Working collectively, the Board Members help guide long-term planning, uphold organizational values, and support initiatives that benefit the Burmese American community through access to resources, education, and community development.
Founder/Director
Sean Tin

Sean Tin is the founder of the Burmese American Resource Network and the organizer who established Burmese American Day in Frederick City. He serves as the Director and Board Chair of the organization, leading the Burmese American Resource Network in supporting the community with access to essential resources such as legal assistance, education, and more.
Deputy Director
Christ Lamberth

Christ Lamberth is the Deputy Director of the Burmese American Resource Network, where he oversees day-to-day operations and programs. He plays a key leadership role in supporting initiatives that serve the Burmese American community and help address community needs through access to resources, services, and local support programs.
International Program Manager
Ye Mon Aung

Ye Mon Aung is the International Program Director of the Burmese American Resource Network. He is responsible for managing international partnerships and developing programs that connect the organization with overseas communities. His work includes coordinating fundraising initiatives and building collaborations with countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and others to strengthen community support and expand the organization’s impact globally.
Community Relations Manager
A Community Outreach Team is responsible for building and maintaining meaningful relationships between an organization and the communities it serves. The team works to increase awareness, trust, and engagement through direct communication, events, partnerships, and service initiatives.
Community Outreach Manager
Mang Kam

Mang Kam serves as the Community Outreach Manager and Team Leader, where he is responsible for building and strengthening connections between the organization and the community it serves. In this role, he leads initiatives to engage local residents, organizations, and partners, ensuring the community stays informed about available support and opportunities.
A key part of his work involves identifying, coordinating, and connecting valuable community resources, such as services, programs, and partnerships that benefit individuals and families. He also ensures clear and effective communication between the organization and the community, helping to bridge gaps and build trust.
Through his leadership, relationship-building, and resource coordination, Mang Kam plays a vital role in expanding the organization’s impact and ensuring people have access to the support they need.

Advanced Career Education Program
The Advanced Career Education Program provides practical training and skill development to help individuals grow personally and professionally. It offers courses in English for Business and Communication, Paralegal and Real Estate workshops, Life Empowerment sessions such as credit building and repair, as well as I.T. training and pathways toward careers in law enforcement. The program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to advance their careers and improve their futures.

May is the English Program Director, responsible for leading and teaching the English for Business and Communication program. She focuses on helping participants improve their professional communication skills, including speaking, writing, and workplace etiquette. Through her guidance, students gain the confidence and ability to communicate effectively in business environments and advance their career opportunities.
